Egyptian Public Authority for Shore Protection

Responsibilities

 ·        Preparing the general planning for shore protection activities and projects;

 ·        Develop master plans & prepare the technical designs for new development projects on the seashores;

 ·        Develop pilot projects which serve the Authority’s activities in cooperation with the different authorities and Egyptian universities and foreign universities.

 

Achievements

     ·        Protection of  Ras-Al-bar shores;

     ·        Protection of Ezbet Al-Borg shores;

     ·        Protection of Rosetta shores;

     ·        Protection of Balteem shores;

     ·        Protection of Port Said and El-Arish shores.

 

Future Plans

    ·          Establish an overall plan for an integrated shoreline management plan to protect the Egyptian coast;

     ·        Expand the usage of arial wave photos for the Egyptian shores;

     ·        Expand the international cooperation between the SPA and the countries advanced in this field;

     ·        Expand in establishing and using the meteomarine current recording and wave measurements;

     ·        Establish net system for information and data at SPA and its branches to link all Egyptian shorelines to facilitate the follow-up process.

 

Structure

The Egyptian Public Authority for Shore Protection comprises the following central departments:

        -    The Central Department of Research and Studies;

        -      The Central Department of Maintenance and Execution of Shore Protection Project;

        -     The Central Department of Planning and Follow-up;

        -  The Central Department of Administrative and Financial Affairs.
