Regional Center for Training and Water Studies

Background

The main RCTWS’s campus is located in 6th October city, 40 km from downtown. The other 6 branches are distributed all over the country to ensure the decentralization principle adopted by the MWRI.
On the National level, the Training Center of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has proved great capabilities in the field of Capacity building since 1994.
In 2002, an agreement was signed to put the Center under the auspices of UNESCO, as a Regional Center. The Center started the mission under the name of "Regional Center for Training and Water Studies for Arid and Semi-arid Region" RCTWS.

Mission
The mission of the Regional Center for Training and Water Studies for Arid and Semi-arid Region is to contribute to different programs of capacity building in the field of integrated water resources management, water engineering, environment and water-related sciences that meets the needs of professionals, engineers and technicians, in Egypt, as well as the Arid and Semi-arid zones and African countries.

Objectives

  • To function as a vital regional center in the generation, transfer, and exchange of knowledge in the field of water resources management, water engineering, and water-related sciences;  
  • To conduct high-quality training and education in relevant subjects and fields of work and experience;  
  • To promote scientific studies, stimulate and coordinate applied research and enhance awareness creation in this field;  
  • To play a pivotal role in stimulating connectivity between knowledge institutions, and in establishing regional networks for scientific cooperation, knowledge management and information exchange.
