– Dr. Hossam El-Din Mohamed Murad Moghazy, former Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, was born on February 10, 1960, in Cairo. His last position before becoming minister was Head of the Irrigation and Hydraulics Engineering Department at the Faculty of Engineering.
\nHe earned:<\/strong>
\n– A PhD in January 1990 from the University of London, UK, on \u201cOptimal Well Design for Groundwater Utilization in Arid Regions.\u201d
\n– A Master\u2019s degree in June 1985 on \u201cGroundwater Hydrology in the Wadi El Natrun Area.\u201d
\n– A Bachelor\u2019s degree with distinction and honors from Alexandria University\u2019s Faculty of Engineering, receiving the university\u2019s Encouragement Award in 1998.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_tta_section][vc_tta_section title=”Publications and Research” tab_id=”1578212373714-fae79586-b9d5″][vc_column_text css=””]<\/p>\n

– Published over 40 research papers in international and local journals on groundwater, irrigation and drainage engineering, and water environment protection.
\n– Supervised and reviewed over 15 master\u2019s and doctoral theses in Egyptian and Arab universities.
\n– Authored scientific books, including:\u201c(Water Environment Protection)\u201d Focuses on awareness of surface and groundwater pollution risks, sea level rise, and related issues. \u201c(Applied Hydrology)\u201d: Covers flood risk protection, flood volume calculations, and groundwater reduction systems design. \u201c(Introduction to Hydrology)\u201d: Discusses rainfall calculations, reservoir studies, groundwater analysis, and well design.\u201d(Engineering Design of Irrigation and Drainage Networks)\u201d Addresses sprinkler and drip irrigation systems, canal lining, and network planning.\u201d(Greenhouse Engineering)\u201d A translated book from English to Arabic on the engineering design of greenhouses.
\nProfessional Contributions:<\/strong>
\n– Designed numerous irrigation and drainage projects in Egypt, African, and Arab countries, as well as various construction projects.
\n– Served as a consultant for the Alexandria Drinking Water Company and the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation for national projects.
\n– Designed desalination and purification plants and supervised multiple construction projects.
\n– Participated in regional and international conferences and workshops on water resource development in Africa and the Arab region.
\n– Presented scientific papers on dam construction in Nile Basin countries, advocating for sustainable development without harm, based on the \u201cwin-win\u201d principle behind the Nile Basin Initiative launched in the 1990s.
