Most important achievements: –
North Sinai Development Project This project is considered one of the giant national projects implemented by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation with the aim of strengthening and supporting Egypt’s agricultural policy and benefiting from agricultural drainage water that was wasted in the sea
– The total planned area is 620 thousand feddans, of which 220 thousand feddans west of the Suez Canal
– The annual water needs required for the project were estimated at about 4.45 billion m3 of mixed water between fresh Nile water and agricultural drainage water in equal proportions
– The total costs of the project east of the Suez Canal were estimated at 5.7 billion Egyptian pounds
– Completion of the Salam Canal siphon and its opening on October 26, 1997
– Opening of the Salam 4 station in the El-Tina Plain area and completion of the Salam 5 station in the Baluza area
– Establishing the central workshop to serve and maintain lifting stations in Sinai
– Civil works for the Salam 6 stations in preparation for its opening
– Digging and forming the water section of the Sheikh Jaber Al-Sabah Canal from behind the siphon to km 24.500 and forming the embankments in the distance from behind the siphon to km 24.730
– Protection works and stabilizing the side slopes of the Sheikh Jaber Canal with gabions along about 86 km on the canal
– The detention structure at km 14.730 and its opening in the October celebrations 1998
– Releasing water in about 100 thousand feddans- Preparing a protective bridge for the project parallel to the canal with a length of 21.14 km
– Infrastructure works for an area of 220 thousand feddans
– Establishing model villages in the El-Tina Plain area including facilities, roads, schools and water supply. South Valley Development Project The South Valley Development Project is considered a dream that has long haunted all Egyptians since ancient times, which is the dream of leaving the narrow valley and benefiting from Egypt’s vast land that overflows with goodness and giving
– The project aims to add a new area of agricultural land that can reach in the future about one million feddans irrigated with surface water from the Nile River in addition to groundwater
– It also aims to establish integrated agricultural, industrial and urban communities based on exploiting primary agricultural resources
– The project was designed so that it starts from the giant main lifting station on the left bank of Lake Nasser, about 50 km north of Toshka Khor, from which two branches are fed with a length of 41.5 km, from which four branches are fed with a total length of about 154 km and the total area in the first phase 540 thousand feddans
– Completion of the studies and designs related to the project
– Completion of 75% of the total volume of the project’s works since the start of work in early 1997
– Basic environment and services work including roads, communication systems, residential colonies, health and social services
– Implementation of more than 80% of the works related to the lifting station and it is expected to be completed in 2002

● Prepared the ministry’s water policy until 2017
● Supervised the management and operation of the High Dam during the flood period through the Nile Flood Forecasting and Monitoring Center project using satellite images and the flood prevention program and benefiting from its water
● Supervised the Hammam Canal project and its extension, which aims to irrigate 148 thousand feddans for the development of the northern coast
● Supervised the Sheikh Zayed Canal project east of the Suez Canal to irrigate an area of 40 thousand feddans
● Supervised the Al-Bustan Canal project and its extension to irrigate 125 thousand feddans west of the Delta
● Starting a comprehensive program to replace and renew the barrages on the Nile and the rays, including Esna barrages, new Nag Hammadi barrages, renewal of Assiut barrages, Esna lock, Menoufia ray mouth barrage, Tawfiqi ray, Abbasi barrage, Damietta mazoura and Zifta lock with a total investment of 3732 million pounds
● Supervised improving the efficiency of irrigation and drainage systems and well control in the New Valley and Siwa
● Supervised the establishment of the Groundwater Sector and Nile Protection for the first time in the ministry
