Dr. Mohamed Abdel Muttalib, former Minister of Water Resources and
Irrigation, born on May 31, 1960. He has served as minister since July
2013. He graduated from Ain Shams University’s Civil Engineering
Department in 1984, joined the National Water Research Center (NWRC)
under the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, and earned:
– A Master’s degree in 1989 and a PhD in 1992 from the University of
Colorado, USA.
– After returning from the USA, worked at the Hydraulics Research Institute under the NWRC.
– Served as Director of the Technical Office for the NWRC President, then Director of the Strategic Research Unit at the NWRC.
– 2002-2008: Director of the Water Resources Research Institute at the NWRC.
– 2008-2011: Head of the Planning Sector at the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, overseeing all national projects, providing technical and financial support, and contributing to the state’s plan to reclaim 3.4 million feddans.
– 2011-2012: First Undersecretary and Deputy Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation, supervising international agreements (grants and loans) for water project financing in Egypt.
– 2012-2013: Head of the NWRC, managing foreign grants, local programs, and the center’s institutes and units, representing Egypt in international water organizations, presenting research at workshops and conferences, delivering lectures on water resources inside and outside Egypt, and supervising and reviewing numerous master’s and doctoral theses.
Note: Before becoming minister, he was the Head of the National Water.
